The Happening (2008) Review

Image
I watched Bird Box the other day and many reviews said that it's reminiscent of  The Happening. I watched it and oh man I hate this movie to the core. It's so terrible, there's no aspect in which this film was redeemable and even Mark Wahlberg himself hated it. Shyamalan has no right to cover his failure by saying that he intended to make it as a high-budgeted B-movie. Nope. Bird Box was better than this. 3/10

V/H/S 94 Review

Image
VHS is back, baby. VHS is probably the most underrated horror franchise and I personally like it and found it to be more entertaining and creepier than these other horror franchises with millions of budget. VHS 94 was not as good as V/H/S 2, and there were segments that I found to be mediocre, but there's still also good segments and 94 felt fresh and a good revival for the franchise. Beware for Raatma. 6/10

Halloween Kills Review

Image
At this point they should've just bazooka Michael Myers. I love Halloween 2018 but the second movie of this new Halloween trilogy felt like a filler in a TV series, there's no direction and coherent story. It also relied too much on nostalgia factors. They should've just make it a 2-movie story instead a trilogy. Still, Michael Myers is as badass & terrifying as ever 😩👌🏻 Michael is the OG of horror/slasher icons and none of the modern killers/ghosts can beat his creepiness & brutality. Michael kills everyone and he doesn't discriminate. There's some cool shots of Michael killing scenes & also some new creative kills, so there's that. But besides watching Michael standing and walking menacingly, there's nothing much. 5/10

Momok The Movie (2009) Review

Image
Garbage. This film was just a clear cut copy and paste remake of the famous cult classic 2002 straight-to-VCD Momok. M Jamil must be thinking too highly of himself and his telemovie that he thinks people would highly anticipate and really love to see each scenes, one by one, being remade. Making Faizal AF4 who cannot act as the main cast definitely didn't help this film. Nabil was hyped on the poster but he was in for like 10 mins. Better watch the old VCD one. 3/10

Spawn Review

Image
As expected of a 90s comicbook movie, way before Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and Bryan Singer's X-Men paved the way to the golden age of superhero movies; Spawn was cheesy and campy as hell, with all it's 90s campy elements - leather attires, crappy punk rock music etc. However, the movie got the titular character, Spawn, right. His origin story, and his badass costume design were totally cool, unique and remarkable. Despite the poorly animated third act, I like this film for it's good old 90s films campiness and for our badass Spawn, the first antihero on big screen before Blade, Deadpool or Venom.  I can't wait to see how the upcoming Todd McFarlane's  Spawn  reboot gonna look like. 5/10

Jigsaw (2017) Review

Image
It's not bad. I think it's better than Saw 5 or Saw 7 but it feels kind of bland. I think the plot twist this time was something new and brilliant, but there should be more to this movie if Lionsgate really wanted to soft reboot this franchise. I love the Saw franchise. It is on of my favourite horror franchise. The first movie is the best I think, as it was the absolute brainchild coming from James Wan, and the subsequent installments just get progressively worse. I did not expect much from Jigsaw before I watched it but it was not at bad as I think it could get. Still, it was a weak installment and if they want to hard reboot the franchise after this, it would be a wise decision.  5/10

The Mummy (2017) Review : Another "Cinematic Universe" Failure

Image
It just sucks. I wonder how much they pay Tom Cruise to be in this one, most likely with promises that he's gonna be portrayed so macho and alpha af that even a 5000 years old undead prune wanna fuck him.  Cruise's epicness from the Mission Impossible movies was ruined for me by his participation in this film. I think now he is very well aware that he better be focused to be in only those movies. The most hilarious thing about this film was that it was supposed to kickstart a "Universal monster movies cinematic universe" named as the "Dark Universe". Universal was so eager to jump in the Hollywood's cinematic universe race as they eagerly fast-tracked this project and they even released a trailer commemorating the launch of this universe. And this plan failed miserably by its first movie in the supposed universe as The Mummy bombs commercially and critically. Every year Hollywood never fail to deliver a big budget bomb and this is t

Halloween (2018) Review

Halloween was definitely a movie that suprised me this year. It was unexpectedly good and it served the franchise's fans and regular moviegoers as well. Now, Halloween franchise is a legend amongst other horror franchises as its first film was out back in 1978 and it's the one to start the slasher horror genre and inspire many upcoming slasher films after that such as Scream . Halloween has had 12 movies in its franchise and this new one totally abandons all the previous sequels and it serves as a sequel to the original 1978 film. This is totally fine and brilliant as the previous sequels were too cheesy and they made Michael Myers silly. However, this latest installment totally respects Michael Myers and Laurie, played by the legendary Jamie Lee Curtis. It has been 40 years, and she's geared up to prepare against Michael. What surprised me about this new film is that how it totally respects the original film, it gives the same vibes as the OG one, and it
